Beginner Singers Course: Part 1

In this course you will learn the essentials of healthy singing to produce a beautiful sound including:

  • body alignment;
  • your physical instrument;
  • breathing techniques;
  • an introduction to the Bel Canto approach; and
  • much more!  

Led by a teacher with over 20 years' singing experience, the course guides you through these essentials within a small, welcoming group environment.  The classes can help you gain more confidence to freely express your voice through song, all from the comfort and privacy of your home.

You will receive an Interactive Resource Pack to enhance your learning and practice after each class attended.

A Certificate of Completion is issued to students who have attended all classes and one-on-one lessons.

Course graduates may choose to enrol in the Beginner Singers Course: Part 2 and then join Be Free To Sing's Bel Canto Buddies singing group.

Unsure if the course is suitable for you?  You may like to join the Bel Canto Intro for a taste of how the Bel Canto approach and Be Free To Sing courses can help you begin your singing journey. 


This course is not suitable for those already in a singing group or choir external to Be Free To Sing. This gives absolute beginners the opportunity to learn with others who have little or no prior singing experience nor any vocal training / qualification.

Be Free To Sing is based in Australia and all dates and times are according to Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) or Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) depending on time of year.

Delivery Mode

  • 12 online classes over 6 months:
    • 2 x 1-hour classes per month
    • Small group - up to 10 students
  • 4 x 45-minute online one-on-one lessons

Who can enrol?

Adult beginners (aged 18+ years):

  • No prior singing or music experience required
  • Non-professional / hobby / at-home singers not in a singing group or choir external to Be Free To Sing
  • Seniors most welcome

What do I need to participate?

  • Internet connection
  • Computer/device with webcam (video camera) and audio
