So Christmas returns again, and the door of another year is rapidly closing. Where did it all go?!
We see our Lord Jesus Christ in the manger – this innocent and pure child who came to redeem us - born in the poorest of conditions, rejected by the world but adored by His parents and humble shepherds, while an exuberant choir of angels sang:
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will towards men!"
(Luke 2:14)
This call for peace on earth and good will for all rings out through the ages to this very day. The coming of Jesus in love and mercy for our sake is what Christmas is all about.
Singing is a deeply personal and intimate gift for us, and at Christmas we feel particularly grateful and stirred to sing for this sweet baby - this little king lying in the hay in a barn. This innocent and fragile yet powerful little boy is God’s only Son, and He is here because He wants each of us to be with Him for eternity.
How can we remember this as we sing? How can we set our minds on Him alone?
Our glorious and opulent Christmas celebrations can be somewhat overwhelming when we consider the truth of such lowly beginnings. It is so important to remember the real reason for our carolling.
Do we sing out of reverence and respect for Christ or do we treat our singing as a show for the entertainment of others?
Do we sing for Him as voices of hope for the world, in His Name, or for our own glory?
Do we sing with the intention of transforming and converting our listeners' hearts, minds, and souls to turn towards Him, and not us?
Once more in this year so much tragedy has befallen humanity. In our Christmas singing, whether in a church, at home with your family, on your own, in a hospital, or wherever you may be, remember the true purpose of this season, and use your voice for His glory.
Be a voice of hope this Christmas.
Be a voice that steers people’s hearts and minds to Christ.
In closing, here are a few updates and reminders for you and anyone else you know who may be interested in my work at Be Free To Sing. I would love to help you sing with ease, passion, and genuine feeling, no matter what the season!

On 10 December 2025, Australia implemented a social media ban for under 16-year-olds which requires users of certain social media platforms to have verified their age before accessing their accounts. The ban currently includes X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.
Further changes are coming from 27 December 2025 including mandatory age verification for logged-in users on search engines like Google.
Be Free To Sing® has been on X and YouTube for several years, posting content for adult singers and those interested in singing. As I am in Australia and definitely over 16 years old (!!), I do not know how this ban will affect my X account and YouTube channel in future.
Consequently, I recommend that subscribers to my Be Free To Sing® YouTube channel also subscribe to my Be Free To Sing® Rumble channel as Rumble is not currently included in Australia's social media ban. If you notice that I am no longer posting on X or YouTube you will still be able to access my new content on my Rumble channel. For more details please watch the following:
